Hope For Hurting Hearts

Hope For Hurting Hearts

Life is Fragile. But Hope in Christ Lasts Forever.

We tend to go about our day to day routines imagining this earthly existence of ours will just go on and on.  But it won't.  Our stay on earth is really very brief.  And when a loved one unexpectedly steps out of this life into eternity, it shakes us to the core.  We ask ourselves: Is heaven real?  Will I see him-will I see her-again?  Will we be together again?  How can I know for sure?

In these pages, Pastor Greg Laurie shares candidly about his own heartbreak over the sudden departure of his son Christopher to heaven and offers comfort to bruised hearts and a hope that will sustain us through this life and beyond.

  1. Hope...heavenly investment Review by SM

I want to thank you for being a faithful man of God and presenting the truth for all to hear. I just ordered your new book, Hope for Hurting Hearts, and I can’t wait to read it. I also have a heavenly investment--my 18-year-old son went home to be with the Lord 23 years ago. I still miss him dearly, but I know without a doubt that I will see him again in Heaven. • I am so blessed to have found you and your book... Review by BR

I am a single Mother of five children. I lost my oldest son in the war in 2003. He was a special person and helped me with everything on our ranch. I never had to ask him to fix anything. He offered when he saw the need. He proudly became a Airborne Ranger in the ARMY.

    After the loss of Spencer...

I stayed in my bedroom for two years, even though I still had other sons at home. The grief was unbearable as you may know.

I met a Patriot Guard Rider and that became my support team. I now do funeral every week for fallen soldiers. I am there for the Gold Star Mothers and have found your book to be of great help. I give the Mother a copy of your book every time. Thank you for finding a way of giving us hope. I did attend your Anaheim Harvest Crusade in 2009. I am a born again Christian but lost my way during this terrible time. God Bless you.

I will keep on keeping on. I am so blessed to have found you and your book. God Loves Me. Jesus gave me life. I know this from my heart.

  • I've been brought back closer to Jesus... Review by HK

I just finished reading your book "Hope for Hurting Hearts". Someone left this book out on the table where I work. How did they know that I needed to read this book? Back in February my wife was diagnosed with stomach & esophagus cancer. This has not been easy for my wife, our family & friends. Since she had surgery a few weeks ago, everything so far has been good.

Personally, this experience has brought me back closer to the Lord. It has also brought our family a bit closer together and has made us all realize what's important in life. So needless to say, a lot of positive has come out of this negative & scary experience.

Thanks again for writing your book. While reading it ... I highlighted sections that were important to me so that I can re-read them again & again.

  • heartfelt Review by JM

This is a very heartfelt and inspiring book! A very short and easy read and, like all of Greg Laurie's books, it was a very hard one to put down.

If anyone has suffered the loss of a child or loved one, then this is a must read. It will certainly put you on a path of renewal, recovery, and healing. Truly a wonderful book...I will purchase more to give to ones I know who are suffering loss! (Posted on 2009-06-23 21:24:25)

  • Your book gave me the hope that I have been praying for... Review by LM

I am writing to you to let you know that I just finished reading your book Hope For Hurting Hearts and wanted to thank you. Your book was given to me by a friend from my church on Sunday, I went home and began to read it.

I lost my mother in August of 2007. At that time, that was the worst thing that had ever happened to me. I struggled through the first year following her death. Just as I began to feel that I had turned the corner on grief and was feeling better, I lost my husband Tony. He was killed in a motorcycle accident on October 17, 2008 at the age of 41, leaving behind our young daughter Isabel. The past six and a half months have been the most difficult and challenging time of my life. Your book gave me the hope that I have been praying for. Your words touched my heart in the most remarkable way. I have been struggling with finding a way to embrace a life that will no longer include my husband. After reading your book, I felt my life still has purpose and that the Lord does have a plan for me and for my future. I wish I could change what happened that night in October; I don't like or agree with what happened to Tony, but I accept it as part of God's plan. In closing, I just want to thank you for your courage, I'm sure writing this book so soon after your son’s death must have been very difficult for you. (Posted on 2009-05-05 23:07:54)

  • This has touched many lives already… Review by HR

Thank you for writing the book "Hope for Hurting Hearts.” I bought it for a co-worker who lost his son about 3 months ago. He was killed in a motor cycle accident. I could see the pain in his father’s heart. I didn't know how close to God he was, but knew his wife went to church. I always gave him scripture on cards. But still I felt lost for words.

Since I gave him the book he is responding so much better. It was like a dose of the Lord for him. He was excited to tell me that he's read half the book the first night. And that it was like you were doing exactly what he was doing. He was so moved by it. And he said the scripture was wonderful.

So, thank you for writing it for the hurting hearts. It has touched many lives already. "To God Be the Glory.”
